In this article we're going to walk you through some of the basics of going through a performance review cycle as a leader. We hope you like it :)
1. Suggesting your reviewers
Performance review cycles may start with reviewees (i.e., you) suggesting their reviewers. This works, for example, when HR wants to add supplemental reviewers on top of the mandatory ones (like leaders and direct reports) to get a fuller picture of your performance.
Anyway, you start by clicking on the Indications tab, where you can suggest your reviewers (by submitting them for approval) and also approve/review your direct reports' picks (next).
PS: This tab may not be available to you, as per your admin's settings.
2. Reviewing your direct reports' suggestions
The next step is to review your direct reports' picks to see if they are the best fit. Here, it helps to optimize for learning: help your direct reports pick those reviewers that will give him - and you - the best and most complete picture of their performance.
Do this by clicking on the Validate picks tab: You can see who your direct reports picked as their reviewers, reject picks you may disagree with and add new ones you think will add to their review. For more details, click here.
PS: This tab may not be available to you, as per your admin's settings.
3. Answering your forms
Now it's time to get to work!
Click on the answer tab, and you'll see a list of the people you need to review. Just click on the name of the person to access their forms. Click here for details.
4. Following up on your team
A big part of performance reviews is checking who's already done and who needs a gentle nudge to get their forms filled.
In order to do that, go to the monitoring tab: You can see how many reviewers and reviewees your team members have, as well as which reviews are completed and which are not.
PS: This tab may not be available to you, as per your admin's settings.
5. Checking out your team's results and calibration
Go to the team results tab to see all employees' results as they get submitted, and also to access their reports and calibration panel.
6. Checking out your performance review results
Voilá! That's what we're here for, right? Feedback that will help us grow!
As soon as your leader has released your performance review results, you will receive an email with a link to your report. You can also just pop in your results tab, on the far right-hand of your screen within the specific performance review you're taking part in.
7. How do I create a 9box (if it’s available)?
Boxes tab: You can create a 9box after the calibration period ends. The steps to do it are very simple!
Important: If any change is made on an employee's results after a 9box is created you have to create another 9box to reflect these changes because it’s a still picture of the result at the time it’s set up.
