How to use Filters in the Surveys Product

In this article, we will explain how to use filters in the Surveys product to assist you in data analysis.

Filters are used to display only a specific subset of survey responses. They can intersect with the groupings, described below, allowing, for example:

  • Comparing only the ratings of Senior-level individuals in different areas of the company (Group by area, filter by Level = Senior)

  • Comparing only the ratings of individuals in the Marketing department at different levels (Group by level, filter by Area = Marketing)

  • etc.

Unlike groupings, only a few standard fields are available in Filters:

  • Department

  • Area

  • Location

  • Position

  • Level

  • Leader

🟣 How to use:

  1. On any of the analysis screens of a survey, click on the 'Add Filter' button. A box with the available fields for filtering will be displayed.

  2. Click on the field you want to use in the Filter. A second window will appear, where you can choose whether the filter will be of type 'is' or 'is not', and fill in the search/selection box with the options to be used by the Filter.

    1. In the case of the 'is' filter, only the options entered in the search/selection box will be used to form the applied filter.

    2. In the case of the 'is not' filter, all options within that grouping, except those entered in the search/selection box, will be used to form the applied filter.

  3. When you click 'Apply filter,' all the numerical data on the screen will be filtered and will display responses relative only to the respondents considered in the filter. The sections of the screen will have a descriptor '[filtered]' to indicate that the filter is applied.

  4. The applied filter appears in the header, with an 'X' button that allows you to remove it and return the analysis screen to its previous state.

  5. Next to it, the 'Add Filter' button will appear again. This is because you can apply up to 3 consecutive filters, which overlap each other.

🟣 Confidentiality

When a filter forms a group with fewer than 3 respondents - whether in the overall survey data or in the segmented data of the heat map - the response data will be hidden to ensure confidentiality of the respondents.
