Understanding Description and Question Logic through Tags

Learn how tags influence the visibility of descriptions and questions, using AND and OR operator logic to better control information.

When using tags to define descriptions and questions, it is essential to understand the difference in the logic of applying these tags. This ensures that the system works as expected and that the information is displayed correctly to employees.

Tag description logic: AND operator
When you add more than one tag to a description, only employees who have all the tags assigned to that description will be able to view it. This means that the logic applied is that of the AND operator:

Example: If a description has the tags “Leadership” and “Mentoring”, only employees who have both tags will be able to see that description.

If you want the same description to be seen by different groups of people with different tags, you need to register it again on separate lines, assigning the appropriate tags to each one.

Question logic by tags: OR operator
Unlike descriptions, the visibility of questions follows the logic of the OR operator. This means that if a question has more than one tag assigned to it, any collaborator who has at least one of these tags will be able to see it.

Example: If a question has the tags “Leadership” and “Mentoring”, any collaborator who has at least one of these tags will be able to view the question.

Important: Tags in the Question and Description
If you want to restrict the visibility of a question to a specific group of people, you need to add the tags directly to the question. Just putting the tag in the description is not enough to restrict the question to a specific group, as the question will remain visible to everyone, just displaying different descriptions according to the tags applied.
