In this article, you will understand what grading labels and grading scales are, and how they appear in an evaluation 😃

In the Implementation Plan of a review, the options of "Grading Label" and "Grading Scale" always appear. This article explains the meaning of each one and also their differences.

In the Performance Review tool of Qulture.Rocks, it is possible to customize how the ratings given by each reviewer for each question are displayed, as well as how the averages are shown.

 

The plataform allows the configuration of both elements.

 

1- Grading Label

These are the options that appear for each quantitative question when I am responding to a review. The following figure shows an example of a grading label with values:

 

It is possible to leave it without values if you prefer, only with the labels.

 

2 - Grading Scale

While the grading label refers to individual ratings for each question, when it comes to averages, we can replace numeric values with concepts.

 

For example, if I have two questions with equal weight in a specific topic (page), and I gave ratings of 3 and 4, the weighted average for that topic will be 3.5.

 

Similarly, my final rating for that reviewee will correspond to the weighted average of the topic averages.

 

In all instances where averages appear throughout the evaluation tool, if the option to use the grading scale is selected, the numeric values will be replaced with concepts for non-admin users.

 

How to configure a grading scale

In the settings of a review, it is possible to create grading scales and assign one of them to the review.

 

In the creation, you should configure the following fields:

  • Label: What label will be displayed, for example: 'Needs improvement'

  • Abbreviation: When the concept is shown in compact spaces, such as the team result table, the system displays the abbreviation of up to 3 letters. In the example: 'NIM'

  • Rating: Select the range for each interval. Like in the example: from 1.0 to 1.5

  • Color: It is possible to select a color for each interval, if desired.

In which places can I see the grading scales? In all screens that display averages. Some examples:

 

🟣 When evaluating an employee, before submitting, I see this summary:

🟣 Team Results (with the configured concept abbreviations)

🟣 Reviewer details for reviewee (in the 'Track' tab)

🟣 Individual Report (with the concept abbreviations)

Grading labes are used within the questions, and grading scales are used for the averages.
