How does the redistribution of weights per relationship happens in a Review?

Get to know what happens when a person is not evaluated by an especific relationship in a Review.

When creating a performance review, one of the criteria we need to define is the weight that each of the relationships will have within the final score. But what happens if one of the relationships is not present in the review? Or if one of the reviewrs does not complete the review?

📓 Basic rule: If the reviewee did not receive a review from one of the relationships, the weight of this relationship becomes 0, and the platform calculates a new proportion according to the remaining relationships.

Situation 00 (Ideal scenario): A review has the hypothetical weight distribution below. The platform calculates a proportion according to the total weight.

Given that the total weight is 10, the proportion of each relationship is calculated as it follows:

  • Self-Evaluation: Weight 0 (represents 0% of 10);

  • Leader>Direct Report: Weight 5 (represents 50% of 10);

  • Direct Report>Leader: Weight 1 (represents 10% of 10);

  • Peers: Weight 2 (represents 20% of 10);

  • Others: Weight 2 (represents 20% of 10).

With that said, let's take a look at the situations where the reviewee did not receive a review from one of the relationships:

1️⃣ Scenario 01: In this case, the reviewee was not reviewed by their direct reports, therefore the weight of the relationship Direct Report>Leader becomes 0, not impacting in the final score. Consequently, the new total weight becomes 9.

Total weight: 9.

  • Self-Evaluation: Weight 0 (represents 0% of 9);

  • Leader > Direct Report Weight 5 (represents 55,56% of 9);

  • Direct Report>Leader: Not evaluated by this relationship = Weight 0 (represents 0% of 9);

  • Peers: Weight 2 (represents 22.22% of 9);

  • Other: Weight 2 (represents 22.22% of 9).

2️⃣ Scenario 02: In the second example, we have a reviewee who received no peer reviews. This relationship will now have weight 0, and the new total weight is 8.

Total weight: 8

  • Self-Evaluation: Weight 0 (represents 0% of 8);

  • Leader > Direct Report : Weight 5 (represents 62,5% of 8);

  • Direct Report>Leader: Weight 1 (represents 12,5% of 8);

  • Peers: Not evaluated for this relationship = Weight 0 (represents 0% of 8);

  • Other: Weight 2 (represents 25% of 8).
