Building Extraordinary Praises

The Art of Recognizing and Appreciating Your Coworkers

⭐ Praising is an art. ⭐

Praise holds incredible power in performance management and building amazing corporate cultures. However, for praise to be effective and have a remarkable impact, simply saying "good job!" is not enough. In this article, we will explore some strategies for crafting extraordinary compliments that authentically and meaningfully highlight the achievements of your coworkers.

🟣 Make strategic compliments

To begin, acknowledging good work should always be related to the company's culture, values, and objectives. An effective compliment is one that highlights a behavior or outcome of an employee that aligns with these principles.

By using tags, such as in the case of the Qulture.Rocks platform, associating culture, values, and objectives to your compliment, you reinforce the organization's strategy and critical success competencies.

To add tags, we go to #Add values, as shown in the image below:

🟣 Be clear

A good practice when giving a compliment is to be as clear as possible about the specific action being recognized. For example, complimenting "the way you calmly and politely handled the upset customer over the phone, even though they had no reason to be" is much better than complimenting "the way you handle customers over the phone."

The clearer the compliment, the easier it will be for the recipient to identify the exact behavior being recognized, enabling them to repeat it.

🟣 Provide an explanation

When giving a compliment, it's important to explain the reasons and the consequences of the praise. Share why it's important for other employees to act in a similar manner to the person being praised. A good practice is to add the phrase "and this is important because..." to your compliment.

For example, "this type of behavior is important because it reinforces our values of camaraderie and teamwork, which are essential for our goals of innovation and market leadership." By providing context and explaining the impact of the praised behavior, you make the compliment educational not only for the recipient but also for everyone who reads it.

Now that you've learned some strategies for creating extraordinary compliments, you're ready to recognize and appreciate your coworkers in an authentic and meaningful way. Remember to make strategic compliments, be clear when describing the praised action, and explain the reasons behind the recognition. By mastering the art of complimenting, you contribute to building a culture of appreciation and motivation in the workplace. Let's spread compliments and strengthen team bonds!
