1. What is the Succession Map?

The Succession Map is a visual way to display the result of the succession process, which involves defining successors for critical or non-critical positions, as well as the readiness levels of each successor.

In the screenshot below, you can see that the Succession Map has an org chart format to demonstrate the hierarchical structure of the company πŸ‘‡

🟣 Note: To access it, simply follow this path: Global Menu > Succession Product

2. Who Has Access to This Feature?

Currently, this feature is only available to Organization Profile Admins.

3. Features

The structure follows a hierarchical tree view, with each level representing different positions in the organization.

In the example below, Fernanda occupies the first level and is, therefore, the leader of Ana e Adolfo, as they belong to the second level πŸ‘‡

  • Managerial Position: Corresponds to leadership.

  • Managed Positions: Corresponds to subordinates.

3.1 Navigating the Map

🟣 The primary level of the map is the company itself. 🟣 The second level is the CEO or the highest-ranking position in the company. 🟣 The levels below are for subordinates.

3.2 Cards

In this section, you'll find information that appears on the cards and how selecting the number of successors and managed people impacts the Succession Map. It's important to note that each card on the map corresponds to a position that may or may not be occupied.

🟣 Information on the cards includes:

🟣 Name of the position holder.

🟣 Title.

🟣 Number of direct reports.

🟣 Number of mapped successors.

🟣 Position criticality.

Selecting the number of managed people:

Choosing the number of managed people results in vertical expansion of the hierarchical tree concerning positions managed by the direct leader.

Selecting the number of successors:

Choosing the number of successors opens the profile of the employee currently occupying the position on the card within the Succession section. With this action, you can within the Succession Map environment:

🟣 List successors for the position.

🟣 Appoint new successors.

🟣 Edit an appointment.

🟣 Remove an appointment.

3.3 Filters

To facilitate the search process, the map can be filtered based on the following information: employee name, email, and job title or position name.

If the last option is selected, the map will center on the filtered employee, displaying the managerial position and the managed positions.

4. Important Alignments

🟣 When a position is archived, it stops appearing on the Succession Map. If it's a managerial position, the positions it managed will be directly connected to the company card.

🟣 When the occupant of a position assumes another, the successors remain in the same place on the platform and are considered for the role. However, the position remains vacant until one of them is selected to fill it.
