How to Name Successors Within the Performance Review?

Learn how to enable the succession module within the review and define successors.

Updated over a week ago

Within the succession process, one of the fundamental pillars is naming successors, and this step can be performed both on the individual employee's profile and within the performance review in the platform.

👉 The succession map is an essential tool in this process as it allows you to visualize in a structured and organized way the employees identified as successors in different areas and key positions within the company. This approach enables the organization to make informed decisions and adequately prepare its talents to take on future leadership roles.

🟣 How to Enable the Succession Module Within the Evaluation.

🚨 First of all, to enable the succession module, you need to enable the profile in the sidebar of the Review. If you haven't done that yet, click here.

With the profile enabled in the sidebar, you, as an admin, need to configure a non-computable question in the performance review to use the succession module. The steps for this action are:

  1. Within the evaluation settings, click on the "Non-Computable Questions" section.

  2. Click on "New question".

  3. Fill in the name and description of the question.

  4. In "Options," click on "Enable succession module."

Once you've enabled the succession module, the question will show a button to open the succession section on the reviewed employee's profile.

⚠️ Points to Consider:

  • By default, the employee's profile is displayed only for self-review and leader-to-subordinate reviews Therefore, if the question with the succession module is visible to everyone, people with a different relationship than the two mentioned above won't be able to name successors.

  • In the review sidebar settings, the Profile option must be activated for the succession module to be displayed.

  2. In the "Answer" tab, click on the employee you want to name successors for.

  3. Within this review, click on the "Non-Computable Questions" topic (the name may vary depending on your company's settings).

  4. In the question where you need to name successors, click on "Manage successors."

  5. View the person's position and click on "New successor."

  6. Select the successor and define their readiness level.

  7. Click on "Save."

After that, the successors will be named for that employee.
