How to use weights and view their total sum

This permission must be enabled for you to assign weights to your OKRs. If it isn't, ask the platform administrator to enable this option for you!

To understand how the platform calculates OKRs with weights, click here!

The amount of weights to be distributed depends on the limit determined. In the examples shown here, we will work with the value of 100. This value is distributed separately between Objectives/Projects and Key Results/Deliverables, that is, you can distribute 100 among your Objectives and Projects and another 100 among your KRs and Deliverables without interference between these differente groups.

To insert your weights, just follow the steps below:

1a - If you are creating an Objective/Project or a Key Result/Deliverable, just insert the weight in the Weight box and click on save. Notice that the platform warns you how many weight points are available:

1b - If this Key Result/Deliverable has already been created, just click on the 3 dots on the right side of it, then go to edit, change the weight and click on save. Note that the platform shows again the amount of weight points available:

Now I am going to show you how you can see these weights on the platform:

About the Objectives and Projects:

  • At the very beginning of the page, before you see the first Objective/Project, you can see the weight distribution limit number (right below where is written "Objectives and Projects", as well as the current sum value;

  • Since we have the Objective "Grow strong and vigorously" with just 1 weight and the Project "Implement Qulture Rocks" with 15 weights, our sum of weights results in 16 out of 100, leaving 84 points to be distributed to other Objectives and Projects;

  • It is possible to edit the weights of the Objectives/Projects at any time as long as the permission is activated.

  • If you are a KR/Deliverable contributor, you can modify the KR/Deliverable's weight and the Objective/Project's weight (provided these permissions are active). This way, you can have a weight for this Objective or KR that is different from the weight given to other contributors or those responsible for these goals.

About the Key Results and Deliverables:

  • The sum of weights of Key Results/Deliverables appears just below the owner, responsible and contributors of the Goal;

  • Since each Objective has its own Key Results (and Projects have their own Deliverables), the amount of points to be distributed are specific to those KRs. That is, in the examples above, there are 100 points to be distributed among the KRs of the Objective and 100 points to be distributed among the Deliverables of the Project.

Reminder: The Key Results/Deliverables you are a contributor to also count towards your summation and you can edit their weights if you want to!

Note: The weight limit is a visual tool, it does not block the user from going beyond the number that was set. That is, even with a limit of 100 the user can still assign 110 points to their Objectives and KRs , for example.
